The
north Sri Lanka tour is sure to freeze some ecstatic moments in your

places which hold immense scenic, historical and archaeological

Tour Itinerary Day 1 Colombo On your arrival at the airport you will be greeted in the traditional Sri Lankan way and taken to a first class hotel where you can get refreshed, so that you may start your tour with a new vigour. Day 2 Pinnawala- Dambulla-Polonnaruwa-Kandalama After an early breakfast at the hotel you visit the Elephant Orphanage at Pinnawala for the (0900 hrs) feeding of the elephants and bathing in the river. This unique experience is followed by a visit Dambulla, to explore the rock cave temple, which is comprised of a series of 5 caverns with ceilings of natural rock covered with impeccable paintings depicting the life of Lord Buddha. Then you will head off to the 11th Century A.D capital city of Polonnaruwa. At Gal Vihare you will find four imposing statues of the Buddha carved out of the living rock testifying to the artistic finesse of the master craftsmen. You also pay a visit to the Tivanka Pilgrimage which houses some precious murals. In addition, you will visit the vast man made lake that is the Sea of Parakrama - a feat of ancient engineering. In the evening you will proceed to Kandalama and check in at a comfortable hotel for an overnight stay. Day 3 Kandalama- Sigiriya- Kandy You start your day with a visit to the World Heritage site at Sigiriya where you will be fascinated by the lion's paw staircase, the ruined palace perched on the summit and the seductive frescoes painted on the face of the rock. You will then proceed to Kandy, the beautiful capital of the Hill country, visiting en route the Spice Gardens at Matale. Kandy is rich treasure house of Sinhala culture. The evening awaits you with an interesting cultural experience as you will be enthralled by Kandyan dance, devil dance and other up-country dances. The day winds up with a visit of the Dalada Maligawa, the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic. Then you will be taken to a hotel for an overnight stay. Day 4 Kandy- Nuwara Eliya Early in the morning the tour takes you around the beautiful lake and the upper lake drive in Kandy. Thereafter, you will visit the Arts and Crafts centre where you can add into your shopping kitty some Kandyan silver and brassware, metal work, lacquer work, wood and bone carvings, pottery and hand woven fabrics. You will then visit the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya which is a repository of exotic orchids, flowers, spices and trees. Leaving Kandy, you will then proceed to Nuwara Eliya in the heart of the tea country. The golf course and the picturesque lake are the focus of attraction. The scenic green tea estates with an occasional sight of a white tea factory rising up from the midst of this endless greenery is a real treat for your eyes. On the way you will also visit a tea factory where you can see the intricacies inherent in the manufacture of tea. Finally you are in your hotel at Nuwara Eliya to stay for the night. Day 5 Nuwara Eliya- Mount Lavinia An exciting day lie ahead as you leave for Ratnapura, the City of Gems, famous for sapphires, rubies, cats eyes and other precious stones. Gems are found very close to the surface and you will visit any of the many gem pits that are located here. Thereafter, you proceed to Mount Lavinia. You can spend the evening leisurely by the pool or walk along the beach. Overnight at the Mount Lavinia Hotel, Mount Lavinia. Day 6 Mount Lavinia- Colombo A fascinating drive along the scenic environs brings you back to the hustle and bustle of the busy commercial areas of the capital. For sightseeing you can visit the Dutch Church of Wolfendhal dating back to 1794, the historical Davatagaha Mosque, the Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara (Buddhist Temple) believed to be the site visited by Lord Buddha 2500 years ago or the tree lined residences of Cinnamon Gardens. The Fort area with its colonial legacies will leave you awe-struck. You can go for bargain shopping at Pettah, the shopping hub of Colombo. Finally you return to your hotel to rest for the night.
